Cross-country Skiing explains that classic and skate skiing are two different types of cross-country skiing. Skiers learn that green circles indicate easy ski runs and two black diamonds are for experts only in Downhill Skiing. In Ice Skating, readers discover the different types of skates for figure skating, ice hockey, and speed skating. Snowshoeing reveals that longer snowshoes are used in power snow, and shorter snowshoes are used on packed snow or steep, icy trails.
